Salida Union School District presents Salida Victory Center, an After-School program at the Salida Middle School on Finney Rd.

The program runs from June 11, 2001 through August 31, 2001 from 12:00pm to 6:00pm Monday through Friday for the summer season.

Transportation is provided to students at district bus zones. 5th and 6th graders at Sisk, Dena Boer, and Mildred Perkins, will be bused over when school is out. You can get the bus schedule from the Victory Center.

Activities:

Swimming at the Y! - Students registered in the daily program this summer will be able to participate in swimming at the YMCA in Modesto every other Friday from 1-4pm. Cost is $2.00 per student per day. Transportation is provided.

Learn to Sail! - A youth sailing program for students at least 14 years old will be offered in partnership with the YMCA. Milt McEwen and Lou Schlitz will teach students how to sail small boats and boating safety. This is a unique opportunity that will be loads of fun! They will follow the Boy Scouts Sea Scouts curriculum and the cost is only $20. Call for more information.

Center for Human Services: A new recreational leader will lead programming on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 12:00 -2:00pm. The curriculum will cover topics about life skills, prevention skills, and character building skills. A guest speaker will participate once a week.

PAL (Police Activities League): Jennifer Hearst and Gerald Concepcion will lead sports and recreational programming everyday from 2-6pm. These activities will be fun and educational.

YMCA: Shelly Mercer will conduct programming Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:00-2:00pm including crafts and community service projects.

Kids Works: Theresa Castillo continues to lead this puppetry group in presenting Prevention Programs. Kids Works meets on Tuesdays from 3-4pm.

Girl Scouts: Vicky Velazquez Borges leads this girls group on Tuesdays from 1-2pm.

Stanislaus Arts Council: Local artists will offer classes in a variety of different subjects.

Taekwondo: Ginny Duncan is the instructor for Taekwondo classes on Tuesdays and Fridays from 4:30-5:30pm.

Basketball Workshop: Michael Griffin, basketball coach from Downey High School in Modesto will conduct a basketball workshop in August.

Baby Sitting Training: In partnership with the Girl Scouts, the Red Cross will offer a baby sitting training workshop on July 10, 17, & 24 from 12-5pm. Students must attend all three classes and will receive CPR, First Aid, and Baby Sitting Certificates. Students must register and there is no cost for this class.
